During the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on the political, economic, and social situation in each country and highly appreciated the positive developments in multifaceted bilateral cooperation over the past time, particularly in politics-diplomacy, agriculture, and education, among others. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Hieu affirmed that Vietnam treasures and hopes to strengthen friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Iran. He also proposed various measures to boost the bilateral cooperation in the coming time with an emphasis on the acceleration of delegation exchange. He proposed that Iran would import more Vietnamese agriculture products and promote cooperation with Vietnam in healthcare.  

The Vietnamese official informed his Iranian counterpart that Vietnam officially reopened door to international visitors and wished that the two countries would work together to enhance their cooperation in tourism as an important driver for post-pandemic economic recovery.

For his part, the Iranian official spoke highly of Vietnam’s role and position in the region and in the world as well as its achievements in pandemic prevention and control and affirmed that Iran is willing to promote cooperation with Vietnam in other fields.

The two sides agreed on some measures to foster cooperative relationship in the coming time, including the organization of activities in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties (August 1973-2023) and preparation of the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Iran Intergovernmental Committee. They also agreed to promote parliamentary collaboration and people-to-people exchange as well as accelerate the negotiation and signing of cooperation agreement in justice, agriculture, and education.
