Vietnam, Cuba marks the Moncada assault
PANO – A working mission of the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association visited and joined a friendship exchange in Bac Ninh province on August 10 as part of the activities in celebration of the 64th anniversary of the Moncada assault (July 26, 1953-2017).

The event was attended by Cuban Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam Herminio López Díaz and his spouse, leaders of Bac Ninh province and representatives of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association.
Addressing the exchange, Deputy Chairman of the Bac Ninh provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phong stressed that the assault on Moncada barracks 64 years ago opened up a new chapter in the development of the Cuban revolution, enabling the just struggle of the Cuban people to win final victory on January 1, 1959. Since then, the people of Cuba have enjoyed various achievements in education, healthcare, science and technology and social security, etc.
Phong affirmed that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Bac Ninh province would join people nationwide to further foster and promote the fine relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
For his part, Ambassador Herminio López Díaz expressed his joy and admiration for the significant socio-economic achievements of Vietnam in general and those of Bac Ninh province in particular. The Cuban diplomat affirmed his role as a bridge to connect Cuba and Vietnam as well as Cuba and Bac Ninh province.
The delegates then offered incense to kings of the Ly Dynasty at the Do Temple and to former Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu at his memorial house.
