Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu |
Reporter: Mr. Deputy Minister, how do you assess the meaning and significance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to China?
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu: China is a big neighboring country that shares a common border with Vietnam. It is a traditional friend and has close ties with Vietnam. This is Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's first official visit to China, taking place in the context that the two countries are marking the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership. This visit holds three important meanings. Firstly, it continues the tradition of high-level exchanges and meetings between the two countries. The official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to China, along with China's warm welcome, demonstrates the value that both parties and countries place on the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between Vietnam and China, as well as their determination to develop this relationship in an increasingly sustainable, stable, and substantial manner. Secondly, this visit represents a crucial step in the development, aiming to materialize and implement the substantial outcomes of the highly successful visit of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in November 2022, especially given the context of declining regional and global economies. The visit will focus on finding specific measures to promote economic and trade cooperation, particularly in the realm of border trade activities, as well as addressing obstacles hindering the implementation of major infrastructure projects between the two sides. Thirdly, this visit will contribute to enhancing political trust, facilitating the search for solutions to remaining differences, including maritime issues, and promoting people-to-people exchanges and interactions between localities of both countries. These efforts will help foster an increasingly stable, substantial, and sustainable relationship between the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world. Considering the significance and importance of this visit, as well as the cooperative and positive coordination from the Chinese side for its success, I firmly believe that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to China will be successful. It will further enhance the development of the Vietnam-China relationship in a stable manner, bringing substantial benefits to the people of both countries and fostering peace and stability in the region.
Reporter: What will Vietnam contribute to the upcoming WEF Annual Meeting, Mr. Deputy Minister?
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu: The 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions (AMNC) of the WEF, held in Tianjin, is an extremely important event taking place in the context of regional and global economies experiencing downturns, and countries are seeking ways to promote a new growth momentum for economic recovery. The meeting is attended by many government leaders and over 1,000 businesses from around the world. The invitation extended to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, one of the four key invited government leaders, demonstrates the recognition of the WEF and the international business community for the position and role of Vietnam's economy, as well as Vietnam's determination to reform and open its economy. In the current difficult economic context, I believe that the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation and enterprises, will play an important role in the overall success of the meeting. There are three aspects to consider.
First, Vietnam is a developing economy undergoing transformation with a high level of openness. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will call on the regional and global business community and governments to enhance cooperation, open markets for trade and investment, actively support businesses, and mobilize resources to revive the current declining economy.
Second, through this meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will share experience and learn from the experience and lessons of other WEF member economies, as well as large businesses, in building, activating, and utilizing new growth drivers such as digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation, and circular economic development. This will contribute to realizing fast, sustainable, inclusive, and innovative growth models based on science and technology, bringing practical benefits to the people.
Third, since the meeting witnesses the participation of government leaders and top businesses from the region and the international community, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will call on the global business community to continue to show interest and increase investment in the Vietnamese market and economy. The Prime Minister will highlight the position, potential, advantages of Vietnam's economy, as well as the government's priorities for economic development. This will attract high-quality investment resources and leading enterprises to participate in mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as green transformation, digital transformation, energy, science and technology development, circular economic development, and the digital economy. In his speeches at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will propose suggestions related to public-private partnership models, cooperation models between the government and businesses, as well as measures to attract sustainable and green financial resources to Vietnam's economy. I believe that the contribution and participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-level Vietnamese delegation will certainly yield important results and contribute to the overall success of the meeting.
