At the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung handed over the gear, including breathing equipment, cleanroom suits, and gloves and face masks, worth USD 500,000 in total to Chinese Ambassador Xiong Bo.

Speaking at the event, Dung stressed that the items demonstrate the Vietnamese Party’s, Government’s, and people’s solidarity with their neighbor and wish to share the difficulties facing the Chinese Party, Government, and people amid the 2019-nCoV outbreak.

He said that the equipment and supplies are the best of their kind in Vietnam. The Vietnamese official highly valued the Chinese Party and Government leaders’ timely directions and the great efforts by local authorities and people in China in the fight against 2019-nCoV. He believes that China will have the epidemic under control soon.

He also affirmed that Vietnam is taking drastic measures to contain the epidemic and protect people’s health, and as ASEAN Chair in 2020, is actively working and sharing information, experience and research findings with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other countries. It is also promoting ASEAN’s common efforts to together fight the epidemic.

For his part, Ambassador Xiong Bo appreciated the precious assistance provided by the Vietnamese side, describing the medical equipment and supplies as both material and spiritual support for the Chinese people at this time.

He once again thanked Vietnamese leaders for conveying their sympathy to their Chinese counterparts, the Vietnam Red Cross Society for raising donations, and Northern border provinces for helping Chinese localities tackle 2019-nCoV. The Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam also spoke highly of Vietnam’s determination and efforts, expressing his belief that the country will successfully deal with the disease’s impacts.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Red Cross Society also donated medical supplies worth USD 100,000 to China.

As planned, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines transferred the equipment and medical supplies to Wuhan.
