Victory over genocidal regime in Cambodia marked in Hanoi
PANO - The Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA) and the Liaison Board of Former Vietnamese Specialists in Cambodia held a ceremony on January 6 at the headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the victory over the genocidal regime in Cambodia (January 7, 1979-2017).
Addressing the event, VCFA Chairman Vu Mao said the victory over the genocidal regime in Cambodia is the triumph of justice and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia which share a time-honored traditional friendship and mutual support, particularly during hard times. It will become the two nations’ invaluable and sacred common property that helped cement the bilateral ties in the new stage.

For his part, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Prak Nguon Hong expressed his delight at the development of the Cambodia-Vietnam relationship in recent years.
The ambassador also expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese heroic soldiers and patriots who had sacrificed their lives for the liberation cause of Cambodia.
Thanks to the sound leadership of the Cambodian People's Party, the country's economy achieved great growth, particularly its GDP increasing from USD 229 (1993) to USD 1,325 (2016) while the poverty rate decreasing from 53.2% (2001) to 13.5% (2014).
