The spokesperson said that the State of Vietnam’s consistent policy is to respect and ensure the freedom of belief and religion and following or not following any religions. This is regulated in the Constitution and law of Vietnam and is ensured and respected in reality. It has created a diverse range of beliefs and religions in Vietnam.

She added that the law of Vietnam bans discrimination against people in terms of belief and religion. The State of Vietnam has been exercising various policies and practical measures to emphasize that people fully benefit from the right to freedom of belief and religion, including the Law on Belief and Religion which was approved by the National Assembly in November 2016 and will take effect in January 2018.

Hang also recognized some adjustments in the report to be in line with the reality of Vietnam. However, according to her, the report did not give objective assessments and cited certain misinformation about Vietnam.

Also at the meeting, answering questions on Vietnam’s receiving Brahmos missile from India, the spokesperson confirmed that the Vietnam-India strategic partnership has been developing actively in different fields, including economy, trade, investment, culture, education, security and defense.

She stressed the security-defense ties between the two nations have practically contributed to the peace and stability in the region and world and that Vietnam is determined to implement the defense policy of peace and self-defense.

Vietnam’s purchase of defense equipment is suitable with the defense policy of self-defense and is a normal act for national protection, she emphasized.
