Ly introduced her guest to Vietnam’s artistic works that reflect Vietnam’s cultural traits and history, including nine national heritage items. Among these were the 16th -century Statue of the Bodhisattva Avalokisteshvara and renowned paintings such as “Two young women and a child” (1944) by master artist To Ngoc Van and "Little Sister Thuy" (1943) by Tran Van Can, alongside traditional lacquer works and modern Vietnamese paintings rich in national identity.
Affirming that culture forms a solid foundation for international friendship, Ly explained that choosing the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum as their meeting venue highlighted Vietnam’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage and sharing artistic values with international friends, including Azerbaijan.
She acknowledged the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s contributions to the bilateral relations and underscored Vietnam’s current focus on social welfare policies and human resource development. Ly expressed Vietnam’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan through cultural, educational, tourism, and environmental projects, particularly initiatives supporting women and children.
Sharing her deep impression of Vietnamese arts, Leyla Aliyeva noted that Azerbaijan possesses a rich cultural heritage with diverse painting traditions, architecture, cuisine, and music, and expressed her hope that the Vietnamese people will have opportunities to explore the country’s distinctive culture.
Leyla Aliyeva, who is on a working visit to Vietnam, affirmed the foundation’s emphasis on heritage preservation projects, viewing them as important bridges to nurture the friendship with Vietnam. She committed to promoting cooperation between social organizations and humanitarian foundations of both sides to consolidate friendly relations and expand multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, established in 2004, is headed by Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. It aims to study the rich legacy of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan, as well as developing and implementing various programs and projects in such fields as science, culture, healthcare, sport, environment, among others.
