Traditional relationship between Vietnam and Cuba highlighted

During his three terms, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong officially visited Cuba twice in April 2012 and March 2018. Cuban news agency ACN covered deeply these visits, emphasizing that the leaders of the two countries valued good bilateral relations, affirming that Vietnam and Cuba have maintained a long-standing friendship for more than half a century and agreed to continue to promote potential to expand cooperation, especially in economics and trade.

Cubadebate newspaper also commented that Vietnam and Cuba treasure their cooperative relations and special friendship that have been consolidated during the period of Vietnam's resistance war against invaders to regain national independence and reunification. The newspaper underscored that Nguyen Phu Trong’s visits to Cuba contributed to lifting the Vietnam-Cuba ties to a new height.

Vietnam-U.K. and Vietnam- Belgium relations boosted

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid an official visit to the U.K. on January 22-23, 2013. This was the first ever official visit of a CPV General Secretary to the U.K., marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-U.K. diplomatic relations, the 20th anniversary of the British Council and the Department for International Development’s operations in Vietnam and the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-U.K. Strategic.

Earlier, the General Secretary paid an official visit to Belgium at the invitation of Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo. The visit took place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

Vietnam-Russia traditional relations lifted up

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid two official visits to Russia at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. The first visit took place on November 23-26, 2014, and the second on September 5-8, 2018. These visits contributed to creating new impulse for the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Visit that expands Vietnam - U.S. relations

The official visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the U.S. on July 6-10, 2015 attracted the attention of world public opinion as it took place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 20th anniversary of normalization of the Vietnam-U.S. relations. This was a historic visit, opening up a new chapter in relations between the two countries, creating a premise for upgrading the Vietnam-U.S. ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.

Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership consolidated

Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong's first official visit to Japan took place in mid-September 2015 after Vietnam and Japan upgraded their relations to the extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in 2014.

During the visit, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo adopted the Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam-Japan relations to comprehensively promote and further deepen the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries for peace and prosperity in Asia.

The visit laid a foundation for the two nations to upgrade their ties to the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.

Official visit to France

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong officially visited France on March 25-27, 2018. The visit took place on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-France diplomatic ties and the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership.

The visit also helped Vietnam’s important partners in Europe have better understanding of Vietnam’s innovation achievements, and the Party and State’s foreign policy, thereby enhancing understanding and fostering cooperation and support from the partners.

Visit bolsters Vietnam-China relations

From October 30 to November 1, 2022, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid an official visit to China. The visit contributed to reinforcing the traditional friendship and enhancing cooperation between Vietnam and China, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The visit also made active contribution to upholding solidarity and traditional friendship between the two countries and promoting peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Apart from the mentioned visits, during his three terms, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid official visits to other countries, including Laos and Cambodia, Indonesia in the region and other countries in the world. These visits have boosted Vietnam’s relations with foreign countries, while strengthening traditional relations, creating position and strength for deeper international integration. The visits not only intensified collaboration between Vietnam and other foreign countries, but also played an important role in promoting peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
