HCM City to expand cooperation with Myanmar
PANO – Nguyen Thien Nhan, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee, on May 11 received a high-ranking delegation from Myanmar’s National Assembly, led by Mahn Win Khaing Than, Speaker of Myanmar’s Senate and National Assembly during their official visit to Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vietnamese host spoke highly of the traditional relations between Vietnam, including HCM City, and Myanmar, and the two sides’ similarities in culture and religion. He underlined that the two countries’ trade relations have much potential for development.
The host noted that the city and Myanmar conducted many commercial exchanges and their two-way trade turnover in the current year has always been higher than the previous year. The city annually held international trade fairs attracting the participation of foreign businesses, including tour operators from Myanmar.
For his part, the Myanmar guest thanked the warm welcome of HCM City’s leadership and expressed his pleasure at visiting the city. He lauded the development of Vietnam in general and HCM City in particular, saying that the achievements of the city and Vietnam have been attained over the past years under the right direction of the city’s leadership and the enthusiastic support of the people.
The Myanmar top legislator also said that Myanmar looks to learn from Vietnam’s experience in socio-economic development, particularly in education.
