The visits demonstrate the high importance and priority of Viet Nam, the RoK and Mongolia in further deepening the substance of their relations and strengthening political trust and friendship. RoK President Lee Jae Myung has repeatedly affirmed the importance he attaches to relations with Viet Nam, describing Viet Nam as a trusted partner and expressing his desire to accompany Viet Nam in pursuing its strategic development goals through 2030 and 2045.
Mongolian leaders consider Viet Nam one of Mongolia’s leading partners in Southeast Asia. Mongolia has developed extensive and substantive cooperation with its “third neighbors,” including Viet Nam. For its part, Viet Nam has consistently supported Mongolia’s major development orientations, efforts to deepen international integration and endeavors to enhance its international standing.
N.A. President ’s visits will help reaffirm Viet Nam’s consistent policy of attaching importance to and seeking to elevate cooperation with the RoK and Mongolia to new heights in a sustainable and long-term manner.
For the RoK, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is currently at its most extensive stage since the two countries established diplomatic relations. Following the elevation of bilateral ties in 2022, cooperation through Party, State, parliamentary and people-to-people channels has grown increasingly close.
The RoK remains one of Viet Nam’s leading partners in trade, investment, labor and tourism. Defense and security cooperation, education and training, culture, and citizen protection have gained greater substance. In particular, cooperation in science and technology and innovation is increasingly proving to be an important pillar of bilateral relations.
Relations between the two legislatures have grown strongly, with many new achievements contributing to the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting bilateral cooperation across various fields. Enhanced parliamentary diplomacy has helped leverage the RoK’s strengths and development experience, creating breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. It has also expanded people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, the arts, tourism and between localities, while supporting communities and protecting the rights and interests of citizens of both countries.
Built on a foundation of traditional friendship and good relations over more than seven decades, Viet Nam-Mongolia ties have continued to be nurtured and developed. The elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive partnership in 2024 opened a new framework for cooperation, providing fresh momentum for the two sides to translate their cooperation potential into concrete commitments, projects and agreements. Party-to-Party relations have been strengthened, while political trust has been consolidated.
Defense, security, judicial affairs and law enforcement cooperation are emerging as important pillars of bilateral ties, with a number of new highlights. Economic, trade and investment cooperation has also continued to improve.
Cooperation between the two legislative bodies has been further strengthened through delegation exchanges, high-level contacts and interactions between their specialized parliamentary bodies, contributing to greater political trust and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
N.A. President’s visits represent a concrete implementation of the foreign policy outlined at the 14th National Party Congress, reaffirming Viet Nam’s steadfast commitment to independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of international relations, while demonstrating its proactive and responsible engagement in regional cooperation.
Against the backdrop of unpredictable developments in the world and the region, the visits also underscore Viet Nam’s emphasis on expanding external relations and promoting international integration. They are expected to contribute to creating an environment of peace and stability, broadening the country’s development space and mobilizing resources to successfully achieve its national development goals.
With bilateral relations built on sincerity and a shared desire for development, the visits to the RoK and Mongolia are expected to generate positive momentum in bilateral ties and expand cooperation through the development of a more open legal framework, favorable institutions and more practical cooperation programs for the benefit of the people of both countries.
The visits are expected to provide strong momentum for further promoting and deepening the Viet Nam-RoK comprehensive strategic partnership and the Viet Nam-Mongolia comprehensive partnership in the new period.
