The two-day event, which ended on October 6, was jointly organized by the municipal People’s Committee, the RoK Embassy in Vietnam and the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. It featured 50 stalls introducing culture, tourism, cuisine, education, and trade of the two countries.
A highlight of the event was two art shows on October 5 and 6 evenings with the participation of both Vietnamese and Korean artists.

The 2024 Vietnam-Republic of Korea (RoK) Cultural Day offers an opportunity for local people and Korean expatriates in the Mekong Delta to explore the distinctive cultural features of both countries. |
Within the framework of the cultural day, the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam, the municipal Department of Education and Training, and the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City signed Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation in the field of cultural and educational exchanges. They were testaments to the friendly and close relationship and the desire to promote cooperation and the strengths of both sides for common development.
The municipal People's Committee and the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have raised VND 622 million (USD 25,040) from individuals and organizations of Vietnam and the RoK to award 311 scholarships, worth VND 2 million each, to underprivileged students and children of Vietnamese-Korean families in difficult circumstances.
At a reception for a delegation of the RoK led by Shin Choong-il, Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien proposed the Korean side support the activities of the Vietnam - Korea Industrial Technology Incubator in the city and facilitate collaboration in the fields of education - training and health care, including holding international conferences, exchanging experts and receiving volunteers.
For his part, Shin pledged to closely coordinate with agencies of Can Tho to organize cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy activities, and provide support for migrant women back home, and assistance for children from multicultural Vietnamese-Korean families.
Both sides expressed their desire to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, including people-to-people diplomacy, cultural exchanges, high-tech agriculture, education and health.
