Bac Lieu, Korean locality sign labor cooperation agreement
The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local laborers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ngo Vu Thang said that Bac Lieu has more than 481,999 people of working age, accounting for 52.29% of its population, with 472,950 people working, or 98.12%.
At the same time, the number of people entering working age each year is more than 15,000, he said, adding that the rate of trained workers is 69.7% and that of trained workers with certificates and degrees is 26.75%.

With an abundant workforce having practical experience and receiving vocational training, Bac Lieu is capable of meeting the labor demand of Uiseong county, Thang underlined.
The official held that the signing of the deal marks an important step forwards in labor cooperation between the two localities, and the starting point of their friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation based on the principles of equality, mutual assistance and common development.
Kim Gwang Cheol, Director of Tourism, Agriculture and Economy Department of Uiseong county pointed to many similarities between laborers of Vietnam and the RoK, and hailed the working skills and attitude of laborers of Vietnam in general and Bac Lieu in particular. He pledged to provide favorable conditions and environment for Bac Lieu laborers to work in his country.
In May, Bac Lieu sent 30 laborers as seasonal workers to Yeong-dong county of Chungcheongbuk-do. They have returned home after their contract expired.
