WB commits US$88 million for ICT development
PANO - The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Le Duc Thuy and World Bank (WB) country director to Vietnam Klaus Roland have signed an agreement on WB’s provision of a concessional credit of US$88 million for Vietnam’s information and communication technology (ICT) development project.
The ICT project consists of five components in three areas, including: strengthening the leadership in ICT, modernizing the Ministry of Posts and Telematics and the General Statistics Office; and IT application at the People’s Committees of Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City.
The project is expected to help raise effectiveness, the transparency and the responsibility of government agencies, to better provide public services and effectively combat corruption.
The project will also help enterprises and the people to participate in the information society.
