Vietnam Acipenser Group has started to farm Russian sturgeon fish in the lake of the Tu Srah Thermo-Power Plant, Lak District, Dak Lak.

Vietnam Acipenser Group on November 12th held a ceremony to start farming 40,000 sturgeons in the large lake in the Central Highlands.

According to the Group, it will increase the farming scale to 1 million sturgeons, which can be the largest acipenser (the genus of sturgeon fish) farm in the world.

The project may cost VND 1,000 billion and this is its fifth sturgeon farm after the others in Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Binh Dinh and Bac Giang.

Local officials said that there is 37,000 ha of water surface in Dak Lak and that the Province still has much potential for fish farming.

In the next 2 years, the Group is likely to invest in 5-10 more sturgeon farms at a similar scale in the Province and expects to bring the total sturgeon farming capacity in the Province to 1,000 tones per year.
