Dona-Techno Bio-Technology Development Stock Co., under the Vietnam Institute of Sciences and Technology, has delivered eighteen tonnes of durian, labelled “Dona-Techno”, to Yang Ming Company to later export to the US market.
This is the second of three Dona-Techno shipments to be exported, including two shipments to the USA. The third batch is of frozen durian.
Dona-Techno Company has invested much in planting durian in areas of Dong Nai, in south-eastern provinces and in the Central Highlands. The company’s technicians have instructed local gardeners to take care of durian trees under standard criteria on foodstuff hygiene.
At present, each durian for export, weighing 2.5 to 3.5 kg, is being purchased at gardens at VND 17,000 per kilogram, around VND 3,000 higher than market prices.
