The turnover of Vietnam’s software industry has jumped up 40 times while the number of software workers has also increased 20 fold to 100,000 over the past 10 years, according to the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa).
According to Vinasa’s estimates, the industry’s turnover could reach US$ 2 billion in 2010.
Vinasa also unveiled that the quality and qualifications of workers in the industry have remarkably improved over the past years when as much as 70 per cent of the industry’s workforce now possesses college-level or above degrees.
Vinasa shows the facts that Vietnam was not named in the world IT map 10 years ago but now it has become a potential IT market that draws special attention from IT-developed nations like Japan, South Korea and India.
However, Vietnamese software businesses are comparatively small in production, business and capital scales, so what they need to immediately do is to enhance cooperation and business association to be able to compete with international giants, suggested Vinasa.
