Vietnam’s import-export turnover from services reached nearly US$6.2 billion in the first half of this year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Of the figure, US$2.964 billion came from exports and US$3.196 billion from imports, up 17.2 percent and 24 percent, respectively, over the same period last year.

The service sector’s largest earner is tourism with revenue of US$1.71 billion, increasing by 10.3 percent. Vietnam’s largest service imports include insurance and the transport fees of imports with total a cost of over US$1.11 billion, up 31.5 percent.

The country also spent about US$670 million on importing tourism services (up 6.3 percent), US$395 million on air transport services (up nearly 13 percent), and US$622 million on financial services (up more than 23 percent).
