Seafood products surging in Russia

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) reported that Vietnamese seafood exported to Russia in June increased by 10 times in quantity and 4.6 times in profit compared to figures of June 2007.

The sector by late this month had earned about US$ 90 million, an increase of about 35% compared to this time last year.

The surge is thanks to efforts made by the Agro-forestry and Seafood Quality Management Department in promoting production standards in local seafood companies. Also, the MOU inked between VASEP and the Russian counterpart has been recognised as contributing.

As many as 38 Vietnamese seafood exporters have been, to date, admitted to Russia.
