Reference exchange rate down 3 VND at week’s beginning
The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,182 VND per USD on October 26, down 3 VND from the last working day of previous week (October 23).
With the current trading band of +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,877 VND/USD and the floor rate, 22,487 VND/USD.
The opening hour rates at most commercial banks stayed stable.
At 8:25 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 23,060 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,270 VND/USD, both unchanged from October 23.
BIDV also kept both rates unchanged at 23,090 VND/USD (buying) and 23,270 VND/USD (selling).
Techcombank added 2 VND to both rates, listing the buying rate at 23,069 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,269 VND/USD.
During the week from October 19 to 23, the daily reference exchange rate followed a downward trend for most of the week before going up on Friday. It ended the week down 11 VND from the rate on Monday.
The rates listed at commercial banks remained stable throughout the week.
