Quang Tri records economic growth of 7.12 percent in 2018
The central province of Quang Tri fulfilled all of its set socio-economic targets in 2018 and posted an annual economic growth of 7.12 percent, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh was reported at a working session with local authorities on January 22.
The per capita gross regional domestic product (GRDP) was estimated at VND 43.6 million (USD 1,878), a year-on-year rise of 8.1 percent.
More than 29,000 national revolutionary contributors in the province have received gifts worth over VND 6 billion (USD 258,567) from the President on the occasion of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2019.

The province also spent over VND 1.3 billion (USD 56,012) to visit and present gift packages to social welfare families.
A program was also held to raise more than VND 9.3 billion (USD 400,704) to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Local socio-political organisations mobilized VND 4.2 billion (USD 180,963) to help poor people enjoy a warm Tet holiday.
Vice President Thinh recognized the achievements that the province gained in 2018 and hoped that it would overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfill tasks in 2019.
She asked the province to continue promoting patriotic emulation movements launched by the Government, as well as push further in implementing poverty reduction policies. More specifically, the locality should create the best conditions for businesses to develop in the private economy, State economy, and foreign investment, she said, so as to obtain rapid and sustainable development in the future.
