The ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) Viet Nam convened its year-beginning meeting in northern Ha Tay province on Jan. 24 to announce a plan of action for 2007.

The ASEAN BAC Viet Nam will focus on four major areas, including information, consultancy, personnel training and business competitiveness improvement, to help local enterprises successfully integrate into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)'s economic life.

It will also build a website to provide necessary information about Viet Nam's business activities and investment environment to business circles of ASEAN member countries, as well as organise seminars and business forums.

In particular, the council plans to host a plenary session of the ASEAN BAC in March, which is expected to draw the participation of hundreds of leading businesses from ASEAN members.

The ASEAN BAC was set up in Indonesia in April 2003 with its members being appointed by the Prime Ministers of member nations. The ASEAN BAC Viet Nam currently has four members, including one member who was admitted at this meeting.
