Vietnam, India to boost cooperation in shipbuilding industry
PANO – The Vietnam-India Maritime Industry Business Meeting took place in Hai Phong city on September 25.
The event, co-organized by the Indian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), drew five Indian defense industry companies and many Vietnamese shipbuilders.
Addressing the event, the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam, Parvathaneni Harish, affirmed that Vietnam and India have potentials in maritime industry cooperation, adding that the meeting brings the two countries’ shipyards together to exchange business experience, popularize products and find partners.
At present, India is one of the larger and promising markets for Vietnam. For example, the quality of rice and of made-in-Vietnam products has satisfied Indian customers’ demands for some time now. Thus, the meeting helps Vietnamese entrepreneurs extend their business opportunity to the Indian market, said the Director of VCCI’s Hai Phong Branch.
On the same day, the meeting’s delegates joined a gathering on board INS SATPURA, one of two Indian naval vessels that are on a five-day visit to Hai Phong since September 23.
