Wounded Soldiers’ and Martyrs’ Day observed
PANO – The Vietnam Martyr Families Support Association and the Rong Viet Media Joint-stock Company co-held an art program, themed “Songs about heroic border guards,” on July 21 in Hanoi in tribute to fallen soldiers in the buildup to the 72nd Vietnamese Wounded Soldiers’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27) and the 40th anniversary of the Northern border defense war.

Addressing the event, Lieutenant General Le Van Han, President of the Vietnam Martyr Families Support Association said that the art program was as a token of gratitude to those who had rendered good service to the nation and those who had sacrificed themselves for national independence and freedom during the war to protect Northern and Southwestern borders. It was also to honor present troops who are firmly safeguarding the national border, airspace and sacred national seas and islands.
The performances by artists from the Art Troupe of Military Region 1 and documentaries about the sacrifices of troops to protect national independence made the audience moved.
On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Lieutenant General Le Van Han presented gifts and savings books to Vietnamese heroic mothers.
