PANO - Vietnam's national men football squad has secured the first place in Southeast Asia, according to the April FIFA Rankings released on April 10th.

Besides, Vietnam jumps to 125th position in the world with 229 points and 14th in Asia.

In the region, Timor Leste suddenly climbs 33 notches to the 4th position. Thailand stands at the 142nd in the world with 183 points.

The two German and Argentinean teams are the world leading ones, followed by Belgium, Colombia and Brazil, respectively.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will base on the FIFA’s latest rankings to classify seeds for the draw of the Asian section of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification rounds.

Accordingly, Vietnam is listed in Group II with many strong teams of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Syria and Kuwait. This means that Vietnam will not play against these teams at the qualifications.
