Nguyen Tien Minh, Vietnam’s leading badminton player, won the men’s singles event at the Yonex 2012 Chinese Taipei.
World No.14 Minh was the No. 2 seed in the tournament after Japanese player Kenichi Tago (World No.7). However, Kenichi Tago had to say goodbye to the tourney from second round and Tien Minh became the leading player.
In the final round, Minh defeated the host’s rival Tien Chen Chou with a score of 21-11 and 21-17 to gain the championship with the award of US$ 15,000 in cash and 7,000 points to his rankings.
It is his second title in 2012. Previously, Minh defended his crown for the men’s singles category at the Vietnam Open Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City in August.
