PANO - The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has inaugurated and handed over a pottery poster, named Truong Sa-Vietnam’s Power, to troops and people in Truong Sa Island district.

This meaningful gift from the PetroVietnam Veterans Association and its affiliated units is designed and made by painters Nguyen Thu Thuy, Nguyen Hoang Tung, Trinh Ba Quat and Do Nhu Diem.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chairman of Truong Sa Town People’s Committee Pham Van Hoa stressed that the painting, a new arts work on Truong Sa Island, is seen as a greeting to any guests of the island. The town’s cadres, troops and people will consider it the spiritual symbol of power of the national great unity.

The arts work, 4.8m in height and 20m in length, is the combination of two pottery paintings and made from about 1 million of 2x2cm pottery tiles. It depicts 9 figures representing people from all walks of life with different professions side by side with each other to create national unity strength built by the love for the nation. The image of a laughing boy embracing a dove in the middle of the painting symbolizes Vietnam’s aspiration for peace. Moreover, besides those figures are plentiful sea resources with highlights of oil rigs, modern ships and submarines of the Navy.

On the occasion, a pottery mosaic portrait of General Vo Nguyen Giap was presented to Truong Sa Island district. The portrait will be showcased in the traditional house of Truong Sa Lon Island.
