View of a "Ma nhai" stele

The steles contain writings in both Chinese and Nom characters and are carved into the cliffs and caves of Ngu Hanh Son Mountain in Da Nang city.

Deputy Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Thi Kim Yen explained that this documentary heritage holds significant value in reflecting many aspects of Vietnam's history, geography, literature, art, religion, language, culture, and education during the feudal period.

Furthermore, the "Ma nhai" steles provide insight into the exchange, cooperation, and acculturation processes among East Asian countries since the 17th century. This represents the maritime strategic vision and foreign policy of Vietnam, as well as traditional stone carving techniques still used today. The honor of "Ma nhai" steles as a documentary heritage in the Asia-Pacific region is a source of pride for Vietnam and Da Nang city.
