Indonesia Culinary Week in Hanoi will be held from September 3 to 7 at the Melia Hotel to mark the Indonesia National Day which falls on September 7.

During the week, popular Indonesian food and drinks which are considered Indonesian national dishes such as stewed beef with coconut milk, spicy chicken and sweet potato compote will be served by chefs from Indonesia.

Traditional dances by Indonesian artists will also be performed during the event.

Spices are the most important part of Indonesian cuisine. Chili and red pepper are used in almost all Indonesian dishes. Like many other Asian countries, rice is a staple in their meals. Indonesia is also the home of sate- one of the country's most popular dishes- and there are many variations across the country.
