Delegates kick off the Ban Flowers Festival 2023 and the 7th Cultural, Sports, and Tourism Festival for ethnic groups in Dien Bien.

These activities aimed to celebrate the 69th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2023), the 114th founding anniversary of Dien Bien province (June 28, 1909 - 2023), and the 74th founding anniversary of the provincial Party Committee (October 10, 1949 - 2023).

The festival, taking place from March 10 to 13, featured various activities, including the space re-enacting an upland periodic market, an exhibition on local cultural traditions and cultural and tourism products, folk games, sports competitions, a culinary contest, a street parade, to name but a few.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Le Thanh Do, Deputy Secretary of the Dien Bien provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, affirmed that the Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival 2023 and the 7th Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival for ethnic groups in the province are events highlighting cultural identity of ethnic groups in the Northwest, contributing to preserving and promoting unique values of 19 ethnic groups in Dien Bien province.

Art performances at the event

The events offered the province an opportunity to popularize its natural beauty, culture and tourism potential to people across the country and international friends. It was an occasion for the province to expand cooperation with other provinces, cities and enterprise communities to soon turn Dien Bien’s tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
