Many Vietnamese films were screened at international film festivals in Singapore and the Republic of Korea during April and May. This has created an excellent a good opportunity for Vietnam to promote its half-a-century film industry.

According to the head of the Vietnam Cinematography Department, Lai Van Sinh, international film festivals help Vietnam to portray its development progress, as well as the image of Vietnam and its people through film.

The Vietnamese films received a warm welcome and were highly praised by the foreign audiences who said that the films vividly reflected the Vietnamese cultural identity and its people, he said.

Mr Sinh went on to say that recent international film festivals have given Vietnam the chance to work with famous directors and artists and have helped Vietnam’s film industry to forge closer links with international friends.
