Vietnamese military units support Laos in overcoming consequences of dam collapse
PANO - According to the Search and Rescue Department under the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the Military Region (MR) 5 Command and Army Corps 15 are still maintaining 120 troops and 11 vehicles in Attapeu province of Laos to join Lao functional agencies in helping people overcome the aftermath of the dam collapse.

Vietnamese military doctors also provided free health check-ups and medicines, and drinking water to local people, as well as cleaned local houses, schools and other public premises.
* The Military Region (MR) 2 Command has instructed localities to mobilize 869 people, including 216 troops, 140 militiamen, and many vehicles to actively search for missing people in the provinces of Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai.
By August 7, the rescue forces found a victim in Ma Ly Pho commune, Phong Tho district (Lai Chau province). The same day, they also continued consequence relief activities in Son La province and moved a large quantity of soil and stones from serious landslides in Lai Chau province.
