Vietnam supports Myanmar in COVID-19 prevention
PANO - Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Ly Quoc Tuan handed over USD 50,000 from the Government of Vietnam to Myanmar to support the country in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the handover ceremony on July 13 at the Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports, Ambassador Tuan stressed that the gift from the Vietnamese Government demonstrates how Vietnam assists its friends during hard times.
For his part, Professor and Doctor Zaw Than Htun, head of the Department of Medical Research under the Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their significant assistance.
He spoke highly of the cooperative ties between the two countries and stressed that Myanmar has kept a close watch on Vietnam’s successes in COVID-19 prevention and control and considers it practical experience for his country to learn from.
On the occasion, several Vietnamese businesses presented medical supplies and financial assistance to the Myanmar Ministry of Health and Sports.
