The earthquake and tsunami causing heavy damage in Palu city

Palu city and Donggala town of Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province suffered huge losses by two quakes measuring 6.1 and 7.5 on the Richter scale on September 28. Moreover, tsunami struck the area after the second quake in the afternoon of the same day.

According to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), the death toll has now mounted to over 1,300, while hundreds have been injured.

Particularly, 10 Vietnamese students stuck in Palu were taken unscathed to Jakarta on October 1, thanks to joint efforts by the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia and local authorities.
