During the meeting, Major General Nguyen Quoc Duyet, Commander of the Hanoi Capital Military Command, briefed the delegation on the socio-economic development of the city as well as the command’s history and achievements.
Reportedly, in 2020, with the spirit of “fighting the pandemic is like fighting an enemy”, the Hanoi Capital High Command’s troops played a core and leading role in the COVID-19 fight in the city, transported over 25,000 citizens from pandemic-hit areas to quarantine zones, and quarantined over 19,000 citizens with absolute safety.

Regarding the Vietnamese-Lao partnership, General Duyet underscored Vietnam’s consistent viewpoint of bringing into play the special solidarity and great friendship with Laos. He highly appreciated the important meaning of the delegates’ visit to the unit, affirming that the visit would contribute to promoting and consolidating the special solidarity and great friendship, and the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Addressing the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang held that over the past 45 years, the great friendship, faithful solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos which were built and nurtured by late President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and upheld by generations of the two countries' leaders, revolutionaries, and people, have become a priceless asset of both nations. It is the decisive factor for every success of each country’s revolution, and it has never faded away but continued to be enhanced in all aspects.
Affirming the significance of the meeting, the Lao diplomat said the event would make contributions to the close ties and special solidarity between the Vietnamese and Lao militaries and peoples, hoping that the two countries’ younger generations will keep treasuring and promoting these special relations.
In the framework of the program, the delegation and leaders of the Hanoi Capital Command offered incense at a worship house dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh and visited the traditional house of the command.
