With a strong belief and aspiration for a peaceful, prosperous and beautiful world, during his official visit to Cambodia and attendance at two significant international conferences from November 21 to 24, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man delivered a strong message that Vietnam is a peace-loving country, always striving to create a peaceful, secure, stable, and prosperous environment in the region and the world.
Vietnam a destination for peace, cooperation, development
The official trip to Cambodia of the N.A. Chairman and the high-ranking Party and State delegation took place with nearly 30 important activities. At any event, they were warmly welcomed. These events contributed to beautifying the image of a beautiful, resilient, aspirational, and peace-loving Vietnam in the eyes and minds of international friends.
Attentively, N.A. Chairman Tran Thanh Man participated in and delivered an important speech at the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP 12) and the 11th Plenary Session of International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11).
The themes of “Seeking Peace and Reconciliation” at ICAPP 12 and "A Quest for Peace, Reconciliation and Tolerance” at IPTP 11 were also areas in which Vietnam has much experience to share, as the S-shaped country experienced numerous wars for national independence and reunification. None better than one, Vietnamese people value peace, independence, and freedom.
Vietnam is also a nation with ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity. During the cause of national construction and growth, coexistence, solidarity, mutual respect, trust, and assistance among 54 ethnic minority groups have formed the power of the great national unity bloc, serving as a driving force for Vietnam to overcome all difficulties and challenges; defeat all enemies during resistance wars to protect national independence and sovereignty; and build a sustainably developing country as it is today.
In his speech at IPTP 11, N.A. Chairman Tran Thanh Man underscored that Vietnam clearly understands that its peace and development are closely linked to the region and the world. Accordingly, Vietnam supports initiatives that contribute to global and regional peace and stability; as well as advocates the settlement of global conflicts and disputes through peaceful measures, no threat of use or use of force, and compliance with international laws and the United Nations Charter.
The N.A. Chairman reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of respecting international laws and promoting multilateralism, particularly the U.N.'s central role, is the most civilized approach to preventing war and conflict.
Mutual respect and win-win cooperation
While civilization, science-technology, and progress of the mankind have witnessed an unprecedented growth, the world today is undergoing many great changes with rapid and complex developments. Political instability, violence and conflicts are increasing, with scope and impact extending beyond national borders. Together with that are issues related to climate change, food security, water security and a series of non-traditional security issues, such as transnational crime, terrorism, smuggling, human trafficking, etc. This reality reflects significant obstacles to world peace and human security, and at times, even threatens the shared prosperity of Asian countries.
Earlier at ICAPP 12, N.A. Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the key to peacefully resolving current disagreements and conflicts lies in dialogue and multilateral cooperation based on equality, mutual respect, win-win cooperation, and adherence to international laws and the U.N. Charter.
The N.A. Chairman’s speeches at the two international conferences reflected strong support and the wide spreading in thoughts and solutions to promote the Vietnamese people's love for peace.
The two speeches highlighted a reality that weapons, war, and violence cannot settle down the world’s conflicts. Only sincere dialogue, mutual respect, trust, and understanding among nations and religions can bring peace to the world. They also affirmed Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-resilience, multilateralization and diversification of relations; being a friend and trustworthy partner, an active and responsible member of the international community. Vietnam makes all-out efforts to create a peaceful, secure, and stable environment in the region and the world.
Throughout the thousands of years of history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people, the spirit of harmony, love for peace, and opposition to war and violence have permeated the blood of every Vietnamese person. The indomitable will in the struggles for national liberation of Vietnam has also awakened the conscience of peace-loving humanity in the world. Vietnam has continued to spread the image of a country that actively promotes exchanges and cooperation between parties and parliaments to enhance understanding and trust among peoples and nations, contributing to promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
