The online contest is within the “Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022” to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and 45 years of the signing of the Laos - Vietnam Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2022).

Speaking at the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang emphasized the intensive development of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation in different fields, including education of traditions for young generations about the special bilateral relationship.

The Lao diplomat said that the contest will contribute to further educating people of the two countries about the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, two states, and two peoples. He strongly believed that the event will attract the active participation of the people of both countries.

Le Hai Binh, Deputy Head of the PCC's Commission for Information and Education and head of the organizing panel, affirmed that building and lifting the Vietnam - Laos and Laos - Vietnam relationship to a new height is significant, contributing to the national construction and development cause of each country.

As part of the activities within the “Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022,” the online quiz aims to educate the public about revolutionary traditions and special solidarity between the two parties, states and peoples which have been nurtured by generations of cadres, Party members and people. The exemplary, faithful and impartial relationship becomes a beautiful symbol in the history of international relationship. The contest is also to combat wrongful and distorted allegations about the special Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam solidarity.

Binh believed that the event will become a significant and practical activity in the Vietnam - Laos, Laos - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022.

The quiz will be available weekly on the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Online Newspaper (dangcongsan.vn) and social network VCNet from now to September 5. All Vietnamese and foreign nationals aged 14 and above are eligible to participate in the competition. The organizing panel encourages Lao and Vietnamese citizens living, working and studying abroad to join the event.

Contestants will answer questions about the Vietnam - Laos relationship in different periods; Vietnamese and Lao leaders; individuals with important contribution to developing the bilateral relationship; the two countries’ achievements in their renewal and development cause; bilateral cooperation between the Parties, States, Governments, provinces and cities of Vietnam and Laos; the beauty of nature, people, cultural traditions, history, and Laos’ achievements in socio-economic development.

The organizing panel will present one first, two second, and five third prizes to outstanding contestants and honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the contest and localities and units with largest participants.
