In her speech, Vice-State President Thinh emphasized that under the sound leadership of the Lao Party and State, Laos has been gaining numerous achievements in the national construction and defense cause. She said that 2017 marked a special year in the bilateral relationship as Vietnam and Laos successfully held the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year with a number of joint activities, which helped their young generations learn more about the Vietnam-Laos special relations.
Upholding these outcomes, the year of 2018 will offer opportunities for the two countries to further lift the bilateral friendship and cooperation to a new height, she added.
Moreover, the Vietnamese Vice-President underlined that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people will be lockstep with the Lao Party, State, and people continuously fostering the bilateral ties for the sake of each side’s development, contributing to the building of the ASEAN Community and to the peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity of the region and the world as well.
In turn, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Thongsavanh Phomvihane highlighted his country’s achievements in all fields over the past years, which, according to the Lao diplomat, have been considerably contributed by considerable and while-hearted support of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people. This has symbolized the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
* On the occasion of the Bun Pi May festival, a mission led by Major General Phung Si Tan, Commander of Military Region 2, visited and extended New Year greetings to the Lao Defense Ministry and several units and localities in Northern Laos.
At the reception to the Vietnamese delegates, Senior Lieutenant General Chansamone Chanyalath, Lao Defense Minister highly valued the working visit of the Military Region 2 Command’s mission in making contributions to cementing the relations between the two countries in general and between Military Region 2 and units and localities in North Laos in particular.
The Lao Defense Minister stressed the assistance of the Vietnamese Party, State, Army, and people, to include armed forces and localities in Military Region 2, in effectively developing socio-economy and defense-security in North Laos, helping cultivate the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
