Representatives from some Vietnamese companies accompanied the delegation in the visit, which was made at the invitation of the Philippines-Vietnam Friendship Association (PVFA).

While in the Philippines, the VPFA delegation joined talks and inked a memorandum with the PVFA.

It also met with Meynardo L.B. Montealegre, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary for Asian and Pacific Affairs; and the mayor of Tagaytay city, which is hoping to set up twin-city relations with a Vietnamese city.

The Vietnamese delegates visited the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines and Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc., one of Philippine leading firms that is investing in Vietnam.

On the occasion, the PVFA thanked Vietnamese fishermen for saving 22 Filipino fishermen on June 9.

Tam, who is former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, informed his host that the VPFA will hold its second congress in 2020 and invite the PVFA officials to visit Vietnam.

The two friendship associations said room for cooperation remains huge, and agreed to promote the bilateral ties and multifaceted cooperation.

They will also work to connect businesses of the two nations to bolster economic relations, trade, investment, culture, education-training and offshore fisheries cooperation.
