In his speech, Minister Son emphasized that since its inception, ASEAN has constantly and strongly developed, becoming an important driving force in regional processes. Development has also been seen in the grouping’s foreign relations in terms of quantity and quality, contributing to ASEAN’s impressive growth and its position as the fifth biggest economy in the world. This proves ASEAN’s identity, value, vitality, and prestige, the Vietnamese diplomat stressed.

According to the Vietnamese FM, Vietnam’s success in the renewal process and international integration bears the mark of ASEAN and vice versa. Furthermore, the relationships between Vietnam and other ASEAN member states have laid foundation for the building of a strong and resilient ASEAN Community.
FM Son confirmed that in the context that the world is facing numerous challenges, the ASEAN Community has proved its resilience, flexibility, and responsiveness to overcome difficulties.
He expressed his belief that ASEAN will promote its achievements gained over the past more than five decades to become a community of sustainable and inclusive development, and a growth center in the region and the world.
“ASEAN will not only serve the interests of ASEAN people and businesses in a more effective manner, but also play a greater role in responding to global issues, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity," said Minister Son.

The ASEAN flag-raising ceremony is held annually to honor common values and confirm the commitment to boosting the spirit of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation of ASEAN under the common roof called ASEAN Community, for peace, cooperation, and prosperity in the region.
