Addressing the meeting, President Quang spoke highly of bilateral cooperation in various fields over the past time and thanked Mexico for recognizing Vietnam’s market economy and the invitation by Mexico and the Pacific Alliance to Vietnam to be an observer of the organization.

Meanwhile, President Nieto affirmed that Mexico always attached importance to strengthening relations with Vietnam, adding that Vietnam would successfully host the APEC Year 2017 in general and the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in particular, leaving its imprint and making contributions to the APEC’s development. 

The two leaders agreed on measures to continue fostering and broadening bilateral ties in politics-diplomacy, economy-trade-investment, culture, and science-technology. 

They stressed the need to maintain and enhance effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms as well as the completion of legal frameworks through the signing of agreements, and the building of favorable environment for stronger connectivity between business communities of the two countries. 

Both sides also pledged to work closely at the United Nations, the APEC, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), and other multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
