US President affirms “good relations” with DPRK leader
US President Donald Trump affirmed on March 1 that he still has “good relations” with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un although they ended their second summit in Hanoi, Vietnam, without any agreement.
On his twitter account, he wrote: “Great to be back from Vietnam, an amazing place. We had very substantive negotiations with Kim Jong Un - we know what they want and they know what we must have. Relationship very good, let’s see what happens!”
The summit closed in Hanoi on February 28 without no deal. But, at the summit, the DPRK leader recommended the indefinite halt of nuclear and missile tests in exchange for the reduction of economic sanctions from the US. This is considered a positive outcome of the summit, helping maintain détente on the Korean Peninsula and the region.
