The number of foreign tourists to Vietnam in the first eight months of this year reached more than 10.4 million, a year-on-year rise of 22.8 percent.
Growth was also seen in the numbers of visitors from the Asian markets, including the Republic of Korea (up by 52.4 percent), Japan (up by 5.3 percent), Taiwan (up by 14 percent), Malaysia (up by 13 percent), Thailand (up by 10.9 percent), and Singapore (up by 5.4 percent).
Meanwhile, the number of European tourists to Vietnam rose 10.4 percent year-on-year. Fast growing markets include Russia (7.5 percent), the Netherlands (8.4 percent) and Sweden (14.2 percent).
The number of tourists from the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, the countries, that enjoyed Vietnam's visa exemption also recorded impressive growth, particularly, the UK (6.7 percent), France (10.6 percent), Germany (7.9 percent), Spain (10.9 percent) and Italia (15.3 percent).
Accordingly, the country's tourism turnover in the first eight months was estimated at VND 26.8 trillion, up by 17.6 percent against the same time last year.
With the current growth rate, the tourism sector is expecting that international arrivals will reach between 15 and 17 million this year.
