PANO – The People’s Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province, in association with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) office in Hanoi and the International Labour Organization (ILO) country office for Vietnam, held a seminar, entitled “Responsible and sustainable tourism development” on September 29th in the city of Hoi An.
The seminar drew the participation of more than 150 experts and managers of tourism from domestic and international organizations.
The participants at the seminar focused on assessing the results and figuring out advantages and limitations in responsible and sustainable tourism development over the past time in Quang Nam in particular and in the central region in general.
Apart from organizing landscape and community tours to raise locals’ and tourists’ awareness of environmental protection, local authorities should apply and expand the models in every type of service, contributing to the sustainable development of tourism generating socio-economic benefits for communities.
