PANO - The total tourism revenue in the first 10 months of 2016 of Ho Chi Minh City stood at VND 80,516 billion, increasing by 3.57 percent compared with the same period last year, fulfilling 79.95 percent of the plan.

According to the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, the number of foreign tourists to the city in October 2016 alone increased by 13.38 percent compared with the same period of 2015 (465,000 arrivals), bringing the total number of foreign visitors to the city in the first 10 months this year to more than 4 million.

To attract tourists to the city, relevant sectors of the city have promoted tourism through programs, such as: Development of river travel, 100 interesting things to do in Ho Chi Minh City, Standardized tourist services, Art for tourism, etc. and organized cultural festivals, said Director of Department of Tourism Bui Ta Hoang Vu.

In addition, in 2016 the city also hosted and participated in programs and festivals, such as AIME tourism, Southern Fruit Festival, ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2016, Overseas Vietnamese Forum themed, “Overseas Vietnamese join hands in quick and sustainable development and international integration of Ho Chi Minh City”, and more, helping increasingly raise the number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City.
