The switchboard, which operates 24/7, is designed to promptly provide information on Hanoi’s tourism for visitors. It also handles feedback on travel agencies and tourism activities to improve the quality of the services, ensuring tourists’ safety and rights.

Since 2013, the hotline of the city’s tourism sector has handled inquiries and provided information for more than 20,000 domestic and foreign visitors.

The hotline also helped to prevent overcharging and regain stolen property for tourists, maintaining the Hanoi’s images as a friendly city.

Director of the department Tran Duc Hai noted that as Hanoi has recorded increasing number of visitors, the switchboard is necessary towards sustainable tourism development of the city.

As of the end of September 2018, Hanoi welcomed nearly 20 million tourists, including 4.45 million foreigners.

Most of the foreign holidaymakers to the city come from Asia countries, particularly the Republic of Korea and Japan, as well as those in Europe such as the UK, France, Germany and Norway, among others.
