In the first nine months of 2019, the district welcomed 2.5 million tourists, a year-on-year rise of 12 percent, including 626,600 foreigners.

The total revenue from tourism services in January-September exceeded 1.4 trillion VND (60.3 million USD), up 15 percent against the same period last year.

The People’s Committee of Cat Hai district, where Cat Ba island is located, is working with Hai Phong city to implement a project on building Cat Ba island into an international tourist centre through 2025.

Domestic airlines have opened routes beween Hai Phong and other localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Buon Me Thuot, Pleiku, and Nha Trang, as well as countries like China, the Republic of Korea and Thailand.

Hai Phong plans to open more air routes to big cities of Japan.
