PANO - Dong Anh district People’s Committee on February 5th kicked off the 2014 Co Loa Traditional Festival to celebrate the Year of the Horse at the Co Loa National Special Relic Site.

Addressing the opening ceremony in Hanoi, the committee’s leader affirmed that Co Loa, the first capital of Au Lac, the former name of Vietnam in the 1st century BC, will always be remembered by generations of Vietnamese people.

The festival aimed to promote our ancestors’ tradition of fighting foreign invaders and protecting the country, as well as to educate young generations to appreciate the great efforts of our ancestors.

The festival will end on the 16th day of the first lunar month.
