PANO - The first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner of Vietnam Airlines, numbered VN-A861, arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on August 2nd, said the airline’s spokesman.
This is the first of 19 Boeing 787s the carrier has bought, along with another 14 Airbus A350-900 XWBs in order to replace its fleet for long-distance routes from now till the beginning of 2019. The second plane will arrive in Vietnam on August 10th as planned.
The first airliner will operate its first flight on the domestic air route Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City on August 8th. After that, it will fly on the air route from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Heathrow Airport (London), the first non-stop flight in the region from Southeast Asia to Europe with the new airliner.
On the occasion of receiving the new airliner, the carrier will offer gifts to passengers taking part in the first 14 domestic flights on VN-A861.
