Top documentaries on traffic safety awarded
PANO – Documentaries, “Late regret” and “SOS 117 Team”, won the first prize in the documentary category, while the first prize in the education and science category went to “A creative solution of smart helmets” at an awarding ceremony of the 10th National Film Festival on Traffic Safety on December 9 in Hanoi.
Jointly organized by the National Committee for Traffic Safety, the Department of Traffic Police of the Ministry of Public Security and Toyota Vietnam, the festival, which was launched by the Department of Traffic Police, was a special activity to raise people’s awareness of traffic safety as well as their responsibility in building a safer traffic culture.
Under the theme “Building traffic culture among the youth and teenagers”, this year’s event was considered an appeal to young people to find and suggest new methods to reduce traffic accidents and ensure traffic safety. Among the 142 entries, the organizers selected 25 top works for three first, six second, nine third and seven consolation prizes. The winners also received additional prizes from Toyota Vietnam.
The “SOS 117 Team”, a group from Dong Nai provincial Radio-Television, is about the province’s voluntary group working on Road 51 to save injured people, while “Late regret” by a team from the Department for Political Work of Gia Lai provincial Department of Public Security and the provincial Radio-Television tells a story of a bedridden invalid whose parents had to sell their house and land to treat his injuries after a traffic accident.
The “A creative solution of smart helmets” talks about an initiative of Luong Minh Hoang, a ninth grader from Luong Son Secondary School, Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province. His smart helmet is installed with a special switch which controls the kick-starting of motorbikes.
