Sweden to assist Vietnam in purchasing medicines and medical equipment
PANO – The United Nations Development Program in Vietnam has announced that it recently cooperated with the Health Care without Harm Organization to organize a seminar to orientate and start the Sustainable Health in Procurement Project (SHiPP) in Vinh Phuc province.
Funded by the Swedish International Development Agency, the project aims to reduce harms to people and the environment caused by the manufacturing, use and disposal of medical products and by the implementation of health programs. The project has been implemented in Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Moldova, Ukraine, Tanzania, South Africa, Vietnam, and Zambia.

At the event, delegates were briefed on the impact of medicines and medical equipment to the environment as well as policies and process of purchasing medicines and medical equipment sustainably.
The also discussed potential technical assistance activities to build sustainability in purchasing process.
